LATEST NEWS BREAKING NEWS
TriadHighSchoolFootball.com would like to send out our heartfelt condolences to Southern Guilford & the Wayne family for the tragic loss of RB Scotty Wayne. A lot of the staff got a chance to meet Scotty, along with Darren Garcia before the season started. Scotty seemed like a very good kid. He was certainly very likeable. We all know that you will get through this tough time. It will just take some time. Scotty, I know that you will always be remembered in the Guilford community. No question about that...

THSF: “Last season you and your teammates finished with a (4-7) record.  This season the team had great success by reaching the playoffs. What were the key factors to this teams success this season?”

Malcolm: “Well we just practiced hard and played hard.  Basically we just went out there and did everything the coaches told us to do.”

THSF: “This is your coaches (Coach McCoy) second full season here at Andrews, can you talk about him as a leader and a coach?”

Malcolm: “Oh yeah, Coach McCoy, he’s a great coach.  He always does what’s best for the team.  He knows what can get the job done out there so we can do the best and succeed in the season.”

THSF: “Your RB Tony Washington talked pretty highly about you in the beginning of the season stating that you’re a great competitor, you work harder than anyone, lift harder than anyone, practice harder than anyone, and that you are on a whole other level.  How do these compliments make you feel?”

Malcolm: “I wasn’t even expecting anything like that from anybody really, but I am very appreciative of it.

THSF: “Coach McCoy compares you to Derrick Brooks from Tampa Bay for the reasons that you both can run, are small, play hard, and have a lot of intensity.  Do you agree with him and if not who do you think your style resembles in the NFL.”

Malcolm: “Yeah I could agree with him on that because I am kind of intense, you know I go after it no matter what so I could agree with him on that.

THSF: “What was the feeling like when you beat your rival HP Central 23-16 this year?”

Malcolm: “Oh that was a great feeling especially losing to them by one point last year.  It was a great feeling just going out there and getting that back.”

THSF: “Coach McCoy played linebacker in high school as well and had an enormous amount of intensity.  Does he still bring that intensity to practice and the games?”

Malcolm: “Oh yeah Coach McCoy even now comes out to practice and runs the plays his self and everything, comes out and shows how it is supposed to be done.  So yeah he always has that intensity.“

THSF: You’re a great athlete and an inspiration for young kids out there, when you look back on it, who inspired you to be doing what you are today?”

Malcolm: “Well my mother really inspired me because growing up I was a little small and everything but she always told me that I could always do what I wanted.  I always wanted to play football so she made me get out there and do it.”

THSF: “Is there anything you would like to say to all the Andrews fans out there?”

Malcolm: “Thanks for all of your support. You guys are great.”

THSF.com – “This is your team’s first year playing varsity football, did you start the year thinking you would come out and dominate like you have?”

Keenan Allen – “Well we didn’t come out here expecting to loose, we just come out and play as hard as we can, and we are just winning right now.”

THSF.com – “Looking back on your first varsity season, did you accomplish the goals you set out to achieve?”

Keenan Allen – “We have accomplished some of our goals, but we aren’t playing any competition so we can’t say too much about our team right now. We did play Charlotte Christian earlier in the year and came out with the ‘W’, so that was great.”

THSF.com – “What are your expectations for next season?”

Keenan Allen – “We are going to come out hard and fight. We will be in a conference next year, and we will try to get to the state tournament.”

THSF.com – “Obviously other than you, who has stepped up and helped this team succeed this year?”

Keenan Allen – “Our other wide receivers and Rocco Scarfone our quarterback. Our entire defense is awesome. Really everyone has come out and played really hard.”

THSF.com – “If you would have to compare your playing style to someone in the NFL today, who would you choose and why?”

Keenan Allen – “I like to compare myself to New Orleans Saints RB Reggie Bush. He is my favorite player. I’ve been watching him play since I was in the seventh grade and I try to play like him on the field.”

THSF.com – “What are some of the colleges showing interest in you right now? What is your favorite, and why?”

Keenan Allen – “Alabama, NC State, South Carolina, Wake Forest, Clemson, and North Carolina. Alabama is my favorite; it’s the SEC, big conference and the best conference. They are also looking real good right now.”

THSF.com – “What do you like to do off the football field?”

Keenan Allen – “You know, hang out with my friends, play on the computer, talk on the phone, the usual stuff.”
